The Snack Pack is a group of Trolls seen throughout the Trolls franchise as some of its major characters. Their leader is Poppy, who was the Princess of the Pop Trolls in Trolls, and Queen by the end of the movie.

With the exception of Poppy and Branch, the membership generally varies per installments of the franchise.

About
[]

Past[]

Most of the members' origins are largely unexplored, save for Branch, Poppy, Cooper and Tiny Diamond. The group are mostly Pop Trolls with particular notes that Guy Diamond is a Glitter Troll and Fuzzbert is a Fuzzling.

Only Tiny Diamond and Cooper aren't Pop Trolls, with Tiny having been born a Hip hop Troll and Cooper being a Funk Troll. Tiny's membership in the group is mostly by association with his father, Guy Diamond.

It was stated in the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episode "Meet The Peppy" that each of them also went on a Swag Stag hunt with King Peppy after becoming friends with Poppy.

Trolls[]

In Trolls, the group originally consisted of Princess Poppy, Cooper, Creek, DJ Suki, Guy Diamond, Satin & Chenille, Biggie, Smidge and Fuzzbert. All of them became friends with Poppy at some point during their time with her, becoming her entourage and her closet friends. The group spends most of their time attending parties with Poppy and generally support her. Because of this, the group teased Branch about his grumpy loner lifestyle at first, as it was so contrasting to the rest of the village and was very different to their own. Branch himself also ridiculed the group for their recklessness, thus returning the feelings, and criticized the way Poppy handled things, which made most of the group defend her in response and bring even more ridicule, with Creek being the worst offender.

The group mostly ceased their teasing after they learned Branch's reason for being the way he is. After the events of Trolls, Branch took the place of Creek among the group, and eventually also becomes best friends with Poppy, with the two of them bringing up their relationship to more than friends in Trolls World Tour.

Trolls World Tour[]

At some point between the events of Trolls Holiday and Trolls World Tour, Legsly had joined the group. The groups' membership in Trolls World Tour consists of Poppy (who's now Queen), Branch, Cooper, Biggie, Fuzzbert, Smidge, Satin & Chenille, Legsly, Guy and Tiny Diamond.

After Trolls World Tour and between Trolls Band Together, Queen Barb appeared to join the group. Though due to circumstances (as the Queen of Rock), her membership is long distance. Her membership is due to being friends with Poppy.

Trolls Band Together[]

The group reappears for the movie, with a number of members having been excluded and Prince Darnell now a member. Biggie, Cooper, Guy Diamond and Tiny Diamond, Satin and Chenille all retain their membership.

Current[]

  • Poppy: is the leader of the group of friends. Each member joined the group as they grew close to her and regard her as their best friend.
  • Branch: originally despised the group for their noises, but after the events of Trolls replaced Creek as one of Poppy's closest friends. By Trolls World Tour he is generally taken as the group's former second-in-command and Poppy's love interest.
  • Biggie: is the largest member of the group. He carries a pet worm around called "Mr. Dinkles". In Trolls World Tour, in the absence of Poppy and Branch, he takes over as substitute leader when the group infiltrates the Rock Trolls.
  • Guy Diamond: is a Glitter Troll.
  • Tiny Diamond: is the son of Guy Diamond, and is the smallest member of the group due to him being the youngest overall. He joined straight after his birth in Trolls World Tour.
  • Satin & Chenille: are a pair of conjoined twins who are into fashion.
  • Cooper: is a Funk Troll, a Prince and member of The Funky Family.
  • Prince Darnell: Was shown to be part of the group by Trolls Band Together, his membership is likely related to his twin brother Cooper being a member.

Former[]

These are former members who have left the group, or were just dropped by DreamWorks. These members are still considered part of the group, but did not appear in the storyline of the latest installments.

Left due to storyline:

  • Creek: was a spiritualist, outstanding member of Troll Village and one of Poppy's dearest friends until he betrayed her and the entire village near the end of Trolls.

Retired from use:

  • DJ Suki: is the village's disc jockey Troll. She didn't appear in Trolls Holiday, Trolls World Tour and Trolls: Holiday in Harmony for reasons not yet known. Despite her 3D absence, she still appeared in Trolls: The Beat Goes On! and Trolls: TrollsTopia, though she ultimately leaves in "Troll Exchange Program" by moving to Techno Reef only for a year, someday she'll return for the new threequel.
  • Fuzzbert: is a Fuzzling Troll. Despite being a member of the group, Fuzzbert is rarely seen with his friends or even interacting with them. After Trolls Holiday he was never fully referred to as a member again, rarely showing up with them in Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episodes and not being a member of the group after the beginning of Trolls World Tour. In Trolls: TrollsTopia, he appeared to not be a member of the group at all. Overall, Fuzzbert was demoted to extra.
  • Legsly: is the squat, height-shifting member of the group, who presumably joined between Trolls Holiday and Trolls World Tour. She was dropped in Trolls Band Together.
  • Smidge: is the member of the group with a deep baritone vocal. She was dropped in Trolls Band Together.

Never used in-movie or Non-canon:

  • Queen Barb: Barb was included on the DreamWorks Trolls official Instagram page as part of the Snack Pack, but never appeared in 3D as a member.[1] Barb is the only member to be part of the group but never appear as one in a movie as a result, with her joining somewhere between Trolls World Tour and Trolls Band Together.

Concept
[]

Early concepts show that originally there was to be 14 members of the Snack Pack. The members were designed with a line of squares and blocks to see what worked. The term "The Snack Pack" refers to the plot of Trolls, hinting the purpose of the captured group of friends.[2] The group would be the main focus of most Trolls era media, thus most stories featured at least one or more member with Poppy usually present in the story somewhere, with a handful of exceptions.

Change of Use[]

After Trolls World Tour, the reliance on the group in storytelling has lessened, and both Trolls: TrollsTopia and Trolls: Holiday in Harmony saw less usage of them, with stories not being so dependent on their presence. In all cases, Poppy and Branch often end up being the only two members shown in major roles, and the rest of the group is interchangeable.

The stories shifted to the usage of newer Trolls from Trolls World Tour and Trolls: TrollsTopia. The impact of the switch in not focusing so much on the group had impacted them in one of two ways;

  • While the group was the main focus of 2D animated series Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, but as of its follow-up Trolls: TrollsTopia, they have rarely been seen together all at once.
  • In 3D movies and specials, the focus has switched mostly to the leaders and their close family or friends.

Some of the shift in character handling is explainable, mainly due to franchise's expansion of characters in both movies and TV series. In Trolls World Tour, Cooper and Biggie are the only Snack Pack members to have notable roles within the plot. In Trolls: TrollsTopia, the main cast went from 8 to 20 main characters alone. While Pop Trolls remain the main focus of the series, their relevance has lessened greatly with the introduction of the other five Troll Tribes. Since most of the group's members are Pop Trolls and Cooper is the only non-Pop member, the focus on Trolls from the other Tribes has also impacted them.

Poppy's circle of friends is also no longer just the Snack Pack, and her interactions with the other Tribes increase the chances of their Tribe being focused on instead of her own, and with it less focus on the Snack Pack. Poppy herself has formed close relationships with Trolls of other Tribes in all media, such as Val Thundershock, Holly Darlin' and Queen Barb. At most, one or two members now take part in stories per episode, with Season 1 being the season with the most members together at once.

In Trolls Band Together, along with the removals of Smidge and Legsly, their roles in the movie are extremely minimal and do not appear past the introduction at all, except for Tiny Diamond, who has a major role in the movie completely separate from his father, Guy Diamond. Animatics for the early development of the movies storyline shows Fuzzbert, Legsly and Smidge were originally set to return. [3][4][5]

Which Troll Character Are YOU? TROLLS

Which Troll are you?

  • The majority of the members are young adults. Their ages are largely unknown except for a few vague hints:
    • Poppy was a baby when the Trolls escaped Bergen Town, 20 years before the Trolls main storyline begun. Because of the updates to Branch's age as of Trolls Band Together, Poppy can now be estimated to be between 21-23 years old.
    • Branch was a child before the escape, making him older than Poppy by several years. He's likely the oldest member of the group. He's considered a "young adult" in The Art of DreamWorks Trolls still making him younger then 25. As of Trolls Band Together and the BroZone website, he is confirmed 24+ years old.
    • Guy Diamond has Tiny Diamond in Trolls World Tour, so he recently reached parental age. "Bringing Up Birdy"'s portrayal of him suggests that he's younger than Branch, but not by much more than a few years. "The Party Games" refers Archer Pastry as a "young upstart", noting Guy is older than Archer's character.
    • Tiny Diamond is the youngest member of the group because he's still a baby.
    • Cooper arrived at the village sometime after the surviving Pop Trolls settled down in Troll Forest, having escaped from Bergen Town. This makes him younger than Poppy and Branch. He's confirmed in Trolls World Tour concept art to be older than a teenager.
  • They're never called this in most of the franchise's main media, including movies, specials and TV series. The name is found only in reference to The Art of DreamWorks Trolls and merchandise, despite it being the group's official name. Even though, it continues to be used in regards to Trolls: TrollsTopia.
  • Most of the members' designs are jokes on the "normal" Troll design. For example, Biggie is large with short hair and Smidge is small with long hair, a play on the normal height proportions (6 inches with equal length of 3 in both body and hair) of the Troll design.
